With so much emphasis on the mind and the cognitive aspect of the healing work, the body is neglected in most modern healing modalities. The body is not divisible from mental wellbeing, and learning the language of emotions is the gateway, the missing piece of the puzzle in so many people’s healing journeys. Emotions are the way your body communicates with you, for it does not use words. The language of emotions is not one that everyone knows exists as such, let alone be fluent in. Leaning into emotions, instead of repressing, resisting or numbing them is how we get to learn what they have to tell us. Harnessing the wisdom of emotions is how we set ourselves free from the hold they can have on us, whether that clutch manifests as anxiety, reactivity, sadness or people pleasing. Remembering the language of emotions and connecting with the body is a prerequisite to achieving sustainable and effective change. Through incorporating the body, whether on the daily or in healing work, I know that breakthroughs will be made and results will be achieved. All the journeys I have helped facilitate, from mine to my clients’, are a testament to that.
